New Visa Policy to be Implemented from Jan 1st

To promote tourism in China and attract more international tourists, a lot of cities in China have implemented 72-hour or 144-hour transit visa-free exemption policy. On November 15th, five more cities announced to implement 144-hour transit visa-free exemption policy:


The State Immigration Administration announced that with the approval of the 144-hour transit visa-free exemption policy for foreign nationals will be implemented in Xiamen, Qingdao, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Kunming starting from January 1st, 2019.


Travelers from 53 countries with valid international travel documents and travel dates that fall within the 144-hour time period who can show a joint ticket that proves they’re headed to a third destination after China may enter the country visa-free from the relevant ports of the abovementioned five cities.



According to the statistics from the tourism economy report of the first half year of 2018, the international tourism revenue reaches USD 61.8 billion and the number of foreign travelers is 23,770,000. And China is now implementing more policies to provide convenience for foreign travelers during their visit in China to further boost Chinese tourism economy.
