Tea is the way for them to achieve prosperity and they should "do well in the industry", Xi said.
By April 2020, Pingli county's tea area covered 80 hectares, with an annual output volume of over 400 million yuan ($56 million). It has increased per-capita income by more than 1,100 yuan ($155) annually for more than 300 poor people.

After Xi's visit, people searched for Zhashui fungus more than 200,000 times on Alibaba's e-commerce platform Taobao the next morning. A total of more than 24 tons of fungus worth 3 million yuan ($424,000) were bought up that night, equal to four months of online sales of all products from Zhashui in 2019.
